The snow is melting, the sun is shining, and summer is peeping its head around the corner. This summer, the Edmonton Valley Zoo is welcoming back its summer day camps for the first time in two years! Give your child a chance to explore the zoo, engage with the animals, and ultimately, have an enjoyable learning experience this summer.
There is a little bit of something for every child! There’s a range of themed weeks from ZOOper heroes, Zookemon, Zoo Chef, Jr. Zookeeper, Zoo-gamer Camp, and so much more. Your child will have a chance to meet the animals up close, build enrichments, make crafts, play games, and enjoy the outdoors – all at the zoo!
Every themed camp offers something a little different. Ever wonder what the animals eat? Well, look into Zoo Chefs to not only learn about their diets but also to be given a chance to prepare their meals! Do you want to know what it’s like to be a zookeeper? As part of the Junior Zookeeper camp, you’ll get the chance to explore parts of the zoo where only zookeepers are allowed to go. Feel like solving a mystery or are you more of the artistic type? There are camps where you can solve a new mystery every day or you can choose to explore art in all its forms: from painting and sculpting, to dance and so much more.
Throughout the summer, each day camp runs for a full week. The first one runs July 4-8 and the last week of camp closes out the summer from August 22-26. There are 32 Edmonton Valley Zoo day camps running all summer long and they are offered for anyone between the ages of 5-14. Registration is currently open and all the information you need can be found at movelearnplay.edmonton.ca.
Don’t miss out on these wonderful opportunities – zoo camps are selling fast! Hurry up so you can pick your favorite!
Summer day camps are also available at many other City of Edmonton facilities – from John Janzen Nature Centre, the Muttart Conservatory, and John Walter Museum to City Arts Centre and recreation facilities. Visit movelearnplay.edmonton.ca to view all of the options!
